I know this has been posted elsewhere, but I'd rather not slog through a hundred pages to find the information I need. I know the Department of Education is now requiring schools to have a CBC, degree, and health check on file for all their foreign teachers. When does this officially go into effect? The guy who is paid to deal with this at my school is sometimes a bit disorganized (incompetent?), so if someone could give me a straight answer it would be great.

Last I saw (from the MOE) it (degree and CBC) was to be completely implemented by Feb. 2012 but many POEs are taking the initiative and starting now.

I don't recall anything about a medical being required for the MOE/POE and is NOT required for renewal/extension/transfer of ARCs.

I know a bunch of folks in the Anyang area who have had to get medical checks so their school can have it on file.

Had to for documentation purposes or were sent to it as part of the 2-year routine that all PS teachers get?

It was not listed as a requirement for the MOE in the announcement nor was it published in the English or Korean press. The degree and CBC were.

They were all hagwon workers. My school has ten teachers and was rather peeved, as it had to pay for seven of us to get health checks (as we hadn't had them done within the last year). And no, not the two-year routine checkups, as several of us already had those (which are paid for by insurance) and had to go back again for these (which the school had to pay for). I know some other people who work for crappy hagwons and had to pay out of pocket for their checks.

I can't find the specific policy on the Ministry of Education's website. If anyone has ready access to something with a date that I can show my directors it would be great.

Can you read Korean? I can not. I see nothing about this at the site you gave in the English version. I think you must know Korean very well becasue you know things that are sometimes over 2 years old and have still never been put on the English version of the official Korean Immigration site.
