Hi All,
I just wanted to get some advice on a dentist maybe in west seoul. I'm gunna need a lot of work done. Has anyone had any experiences with the Universities in seoul? I heard they are good, not that expensive, and speak English.
Thanks! |

I can't speak for all universities, but the last time I went to one (had a broken tooth) they were able to give me an exam and x-ray, but had over a one-month waiting list to actually get the tooth fixed. No way I was going to wait a month to fix an exposed root!
Again, I don't know if all university hospitals are the same, though most seem to be pretty packed because of the cheaper prices.
I can tell you to avoid Columbia Dental Clinic in Itaewon. Avoid the place like it's the plague. After being told of the one-month wait for the hospital, I went to Columbia simply because they had an English speaking dentist. This guy proceeded to tell me that I needed bone rebuilding, gum grafting, 4 implants, 3 root canals, and a host of other things. The bill was going to be almost 14 million won! Needless to say I wanted a second opinion, especially since the hospital's dentist told me my only problem was the broken tooth.
I did find a great dentist in the Kangnam area who speaks English. He, like the dentist from the hospital, told me that my only problem was the one broken tooth, and gave me a very reasonable price for a root canal and crown. I also asked him about replacing an old crown with a newer, better quality one and also about replacing a few metal fillings with some of the new tooth colored ones. He gave me a really good price for all of the work. If I remember correctly, I had one root canal, two crowns, and four fillings replaced with the white stuff and I think I paid about 1.2 million won. Much better than the 14 million won the place in Itaewon was going to charge!
I don't have the phone number handy, but the place is called Avenue Dental Clinic and it's near the Burger King (opposite side of the street and about 50 meters up the street) at Seollung Station (One stop from Samsung Station). |

Best deal around, and English help too. New looking facility.....very large and popular chain. Actually draws complaints to dental boards from other dentists about their low prices, from rumors I hear. My implant is costing 900,000 (1 mill without a referral from previous customer). Every other dentist wants well over 1.5 per implant.
