Uni / Uhagwons/ U Learning Centers/ What's the difference?

I am currently teaching at a public high school. And I planned on leaving in August. I only have a B.A. but I will have taught for 3 years. 2 years at public. 1 year at a hagwon. I am currently looking for something that

a) has a similar or better salary to my current job (at least over 2.5)
b) is still within Seoul
c) is with college level students or adults
d) doesn't (regularly) require me to teach at night or on weekends
and e) has a decent amount of vacation time.

For this reason, my ideal job would be at a university. But I hear that I have a slim change of getting a university job with only BA, (even though I already have taught in Korea for 3 years). If this is not, in fact the case, for the love of god, please tell me where to apply.

I hear about other university opportunities as well. But the distinction is very fuzzy. When I speak to foreigners, they mention 'U Hagwons" But when I mention U Hagwons to Koreans, they say those are the hagwons that high school students use to prepare FOR college. These obviously would have nighttime and weekend hours. (My girlfriend has a 9-6 job weekdays, so without nights and weekends, I would never see her, so that would be out.)

My coteacher told me that , instead, what I am really talking about is in reality, some sort of university learning center, a place cheaply funded by the university as a perk to help university students learn English. Can you confirm this?

And finally, I am also not clear on the working hours / vacation time at such a place. I'm also not clear on what I would specifically search for to apply for any of these jobs as well. As well as the right time to apply.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: The only thread on Uhagwons I could find was written ages ago, so if you can send me the link to a well informed thread, I'll gladly delete this one. If not, please help me!

Honestly, if you are not a publishing employee and are on contract, it means next to nothing. Some like to pimp their egos and think it does, though.

A dozen different universities may have a dozen different names for what is the same program. All you can go by is description in the job ad.

Bumping --

I've also heard these schools called "Unigwons".

Sounds about right, OP -- a language school loosely affiliated with a University. Seems like a good opportunity, but I've never talked to anyone who has actually worked in one.

Anyone out there have experience?

You can probably get 3 of these. All 5? Doubtful.

We posted at the same time. More proof of a parallel Universe.
