|
|
I'm trying to get my FBI criminal background check done as soon as possible. Someone told me I can submit my fingerprints using the live scan digital printing and send it for processing electronically from the live scan center. Can anyone confirm this? Also, do you know what forms I need to take to the live scan center? I can only find the ink printing forms.
Thanks! |

Looking at your location which is in Korea. Then sorry your nearest one is in California. So quickest way is to go to Incheon Airport....
Looks like your will have to go the slow complicated ink based FBI check way. Unless you want to spend the money on a plane ticket? |

No, you can't do it that way. I had checked that with the FBI. You won't get a report that can be apostlilled if you use live scan. You need to have your prints taken on that fingerprint card. |

I'm afraid so. That was the first thing I asked them. It doesn't make any sense to me, but those are the brakes. Enjoy your 8+ week break. I'm in the same boat. |

Do you understand the concept of LiveScan. The use a device to take your fingerprint to either give you a nice print out or possible send it on the FBI electronically. Reasearching about LiveScan it looks like it might just report to the California Bureau of Justice.
http://ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/publications/contact.php Comes with a map of locations. Many of them private.

Great in being in California. Sometimes details like that could be helpful to know. isitts is likely right. BUT you can try applying for one. Then sending it back for the seal. You can always try and maybe get it properly verified. |

Well, there are places that can take digital scans of your fingerprints and then print those out on your fingerprint card, but that's not the same as electronically sending the live scan prints to the FBI.
You can only electronically send prints if you are applying for work within the US. But for a CBC for work overseas, one that can get an apostlille from the DOS, you gotta have the prints done on the fingerprint card and do it the slow way. It sucks. It's BS. But that's how it is. |

| I don't think the live scan is available for individuals getting there FBI CBC's. It's used only by agencies like the police. |

| If your in california then the trick is getting the california secretary of state to handle the apostille instead of the federal government. Cuts 3 months off turn around time (your still going to wait 2 1/2 months for the FBI CBC). |

Ok .... interesting. Similar with me trying to get a third person RCMP name check done. Only for those who live in Canada. |

| For Americans using the FBI, has anyone ever use a printout (with regular printing paper) to do do the finger printing and get the CBC? The actual fingerprint cards are different/thicker from regular printing paper, so my guess is they wont work. Unless someone has already done it. |

You could call the FBI and ask them. I think that would be the most reliable answer.
I've also said in another thread that if you are that worried about it, you can order the fingerprint cards from the FBI for free. Takes about 3 days. If you are not in the US, have them mailed to someone you know in the US and they can mail them to you.
That other thread (mentioned above) is floating around here somewhere, asking the same question you just asked. Might see what it says there. |

No problem. I think having the fingerprint form printed on regular paper might be ok, if I remember correctly. But if you're getting the prints done in Korea, I wasn't really happy with the way the police officer took the prints on that paper (folded it around a ruler and rolled that around my fingers). They came out sloppy and the FBI rejected them. In fairness, they were just poorly done regardless of the paper used. But still, I went back there with the official fingerprint card and those came out fine. Still good to have backup cards though. |
