What do you guys think are some of the best apps for Galaxy S or other droid phones in Korea?

I'm trying to get some more apps for my phone but cant think of any others that would make my life easier...

The ones I think are really useful are:

-CGV - lets me check which movies are playing and buy tickets, but you need a Korean login/pass (i.e. your wife's/friend's) and it's in Korean

-Eggmon - awesome barcode scanner that finds ALL Korean products and where you can purchase them, while giving you best deals too. I scanned a few random things so far and they all were listed accurately with some competitive deals out there.

-Google goggles - great droid app in general. take a picture, it scans it and searches google for any relevant info. great for products, not so great for other things. also, doesnt find hangul related articles, engish only. although it's definitely an app to play around with since it's being frequently updated and gets better and better every week

-Google translate - a surprisingly accurate english/korean/english dictionary that can even do phrases. I used it in a few shops/restaurants for fun.

-Layar - a camera based map. shows you were nearest restaurants/banks/events are using the camera to guide you. pretty accurate so far. told me about a lotteria in the subway nearby (i was unaware about it)

-Smartway - tells you the traffic conditions in Seoul area

-SPB TV - nice TV app that includes some Korean channels and over 200 other international channels

-SeoulBus/SubwayMap - transportation apps

-ParKing - useful for foreigners who drive since it tells you good parking spots in the area.

-Bugs - keep up to date with your K-Pop knowledge. 1 minute samples of best songs or ability to buy mp3s if you really liked them.

Daum/Naver maps. Daum for nice road view and Naver for the bus route information

Just picked up an Android phone, and I'm very curious as to which apps people find particularly helpful.

Thanks for the list already!

has anybody found a way to install games from the American market?

I've been trying to find Parallel Kingdom game or some of the other online games that I want to play, but can't seem to find a newer version that would work on Gals.

For those of you having trouble installing games on galaxy S, try using an app called Applanet which is an alternative market for Android, NOT banned in Korea and has most of the paid games free. It will save you time looking for them on torrents too.

I don't know how legal it is, but this app is downloadable from applanet.net and I was able to find most games that I wanted to play (not all though) on there.

Google translate is very bad at Asian languages. Anything beyond a very simple sentence will be mangled beyond belief.

Add Daum and Naver maps. Daum for nice road view and naver for the bus route information. Seoul bus is good for times, Naver is good for seeing exactly where the bus route goes on a map.

Talk To Me Classic - Speech-to-speech translator (Only speech to text is supported for Korean but I find it really useful for texting in korean and explaining things to ajoshees)

카카오톡 (KakaoTalk) - The most popular chatting/texting software among Koreans.

Kyobo Book center - helps me in checking prices and availability of books.

미니 Tworld - keep track of your cellphone usage

did someone try any VOIP app on Galaxy?

I used Nimbuzz, which is a Skype clone. Works pretty well.

This is actually a 'Show' where a guy comes on and demonstrates the app of the day. Today's app was 'AndroidAlarm' for example. Changes every day.

This is the app that Spanky1Off mentioned

http://www.appbrain.com/app/%EB%AC%B4%EB%A3%8C%ED%86%B5%ED%99%94%EC%A1%B0%ED%9A%8C/kr.mobilefirst.carrierplan

It works, but if you're with SK I think the Mini T-world app is better. It gives more information than the other one, and it also lets you send 100 free text messages per month.

http://www.tstore.co.kr/userpoc/game/viewProduct.omp?insDpCatNo=DP04003&insProdId=0000032819&prodGrdCd=PD004401&t_top=DP000504

In order to use both apps you have to create an account at SK's website (www.tworld.co.kr) in order to log in. (If your phone is not registered in your own name you'll need to use the person who registered the phone's name and ID number)
