Sorry everyone, I know this has been posted MANY times because I searched and it came up with a bunch of results, BUT it seems like in every thread someone is saying something different... Is there anywhere that has the real answer set in stone (like an official website) so I can be sure? I have an F-4 Visa if that matters at all.
As far as I know:
-Diploma Apostilles can be from in state, I'm from California, so I would send it to the California Secretary of state, and takes around 1 month.
-FBI CBC Apostilles must be at a federal level, and must be sent to the Washington D.C. office to get the seal and takes around 2 months.
Can anyone clarify if this information is right or wrong?
Also I have heard there are same day walk in Apostilles in Washington D.C. My uncle lives in D.C. about 2 miles away from the Office of Authentications. Would I be able to send him my notarized CBC and have him get the Federal level Aposttile seal on the same day, avoiding Apostille service fees and a 2 month waiting period? This almost sounds too good to be true, but would it really be that easy if I send it to him? |

That should work as long as the FBI has authenticated your CBC by placing their seal on it. |

By that you mean the walk in Apostilles in D.C.? That would be great. Anyone know about the other things? |

Yes, just make sure you request the FBI seal and signature when you mail in your application and fingerprints.
As for getting a notarized copy of your diploma apostilled in California:

I heard that you can just add a sticky note on your application when you send it in citing that you need an Authentication from the FBI in order to receive an Apostille, is this true or do I need to submit some other kind of form requesting an FBI seal to authenticate it?
Also, thanks for the link, so notarized copies of Diplomas are okay to be Apostilled at the state level? |
