I'm just curious as to which tablet PC to buy. I've heard that the Amazon Kindle will do a lot of things that the iPad 2 and Galaxy Tabs can but a lot cheaper.
I'm not keen on Apple smartphones or tablet PCs because of the irreplacability of the battery.
I'm wondering if the Tab is worth it. |

I bought an iPad when it first came out.
I wanted it for...
Reading work docs
Checking email
Surfing the net
Watching videos
Reading books
Reading comic books
But in addition to that, I found once I got it that I also use it for
Creating documents
Playing games
Listening to music/audio files
Giving small presentations (video and audio in class)
Drawing/coloring with my daughter
Reading books/materials to my daughter
I chose the iPad because, at the time, it was pretty much the only option for a solid tab. Now, it looks like there are a lot more. But, if I was to buy a new one, I think I'd stick with the iSeries. I've been impressed with it so far, and found that my 4 year old easily navigates the interface.
Hope that helps. I know tablets aren't for everyone/every lifestyle, but I can confidently say that I've made the most of mine. |

I wouldn't buy one personally, but my wife got a Galaxy Tab (7''?) free from her work....
....so far it has been absolutely invaluable as a learning tool for our 2 year old daughter. We download all the early learning apps and she just goes through them having great fun and learning loads.
My wife and I rarely use it ourselves. We have laptops, smartphones and desktops. A Tablet doesn't fit in with our daily requirements. |

Does the Tab malfunction or stuff like that? I was initially wary of buying a Galaxy S II but I love it now. So I'm thinking I can keep the Samsung Galaxy thing going.
Like I said, the lack of replaceable battery for the iPad is a big turnoff for me. |

In the words of the late Steven Jobs "netbooks suck."
Ultrabooks (Macbook Air copycats) are supposed to be the new wave. SSD drives, super slim composite cases, big screens, full keyboards... yeah, I can see the appeal. Even with a lame battery life, I say they pwn3d the netbooks. Even Dell has pulled production of it's Mini. |

Why do you think Apple will go to any lengths to hold up and block the sale of the Galaxy Tab?
They know it's at least the equal of their iPad.
Just like with the iPhone, Apple had a year or two supremacy with the iPad, but now the rivals have caught up.
BTW, I don't think any Galaxy Tab models have a user replaceable battery. |

I'm going to get the Asus Transformer Prime when it cimes out in Korea. They're only $500 (in the US, so we'll see about here) and it's a tablet and a laptop. Pretty sweet! |

I have had a few laptops, and they are too bulky and heavy. The netbook is the perfect size. In my situation, I teach 18 different classes a week with projector screens. So, now I have the best of both worlds. I have been showing Christmas movies and a netbook is really convenient to have while they watch or in one class the desktop wasn't working, so I just ran it from my netbook.
I am not an touch screen based person. I need a keyboard, I need an area for the mouse, and all the other buttons to shift, enter, etc....
My phone is not the iphone for the same reason. I prefer a qwerty keypad that rolls out (not those Blackberry ones, the ones with decent sized keys).
The notebook I have, Acer ($200, nice and cheap), is not for gaming but I have not seen another keyboard with decent sized keys. I shopped for 3 months, visiting stores and checking others online as well as pricing.
If you want touch screen, into gaming, and don't need a keyboard , then I can understand why you don't want a netbook. |

Anything but Apple, flash is a big part of my web-surfing experience. I got a Lenovo one because it was on sale. It won't replace my gaming laptop but at least I have something I can use from time to time. |

Where would be the best place to buy an iPad 2 in Seoul? Recommendations? Experiences? |

I bought a 64 gig 3G iPad2 this year, mostly because I travel like crazy (about 60,000k this year) mainly for Internet, email, movies... But I was actually quite disappointed when I got it. I had this stigma about buying apps and refused to do it. 100$ in apps later andsuddenly the iPad was one of the best purchases I have ever made. I use my laptop+monitors for maybe an hour a week now. If you buy apps they are transferable to the iPhone for the most part as well.
I read on my iPad, play games (1$ for 4 hours of entertainment while on a train? Heck yes) reading books- iPad reads all shook formats, sans kindle, so you can download more books than you could ever read... Ebooke.org is great. Movies are a sinch, documents are fine, web browsing is great. All in all 100% satisfied. |

Yeah, I think after a year and a half of owning it, I've spent under $100 in apps. heck, maybe closer to $50.
They really are cheap for what you get. |

Hmm, I still wonder if a tablet PC has a replaceable battery. I looked at a few and it seems the answer is mostly no. |

I'm currently on vacation here in the US. I just ordered the Toshiba Thrive 16gb from B&H last week and it arrived today. I got it for $359. It has a user replaceable battery, USB port, mini-USB port, full HDMI, and SD card slot. The camera is 5mp, while the front facing one is 2mp. No flash but that's okay. |
