Something I've wondered about..I was curious if anyone had any thoughts on the matter..

Why is streaming network tv illegal? I would figure it's a good thing because the people who are watching and forced to watch the commercials that they would never normally see.

While people back home can just dvr everything and skip past all of the ads.

Isn't the big moneymaker for these networks the advertising money? Why would they object to this?

The commercials are not the only thing. Shows charge a fee for commercials based on how many people watch the show. People who stream are not included in the number of viewers. Basically companies then get free advertising. They pay a fee to get their commercials placed in a show watched by 10 million people every week. When people stream, the commercials then reach even more people, but they are still only paying the 10 million person rate. It isn't the companies making the commercials that pull streams, it is the networks. Keep in mind a lot of streams do not even have commercials.

Even with DVR, networks know what shows you are recording and watching.

Even if you watch commercials that you would normally never see, what good does it do if the product isn't even in your country?

I'm not worried about getting caught..

I'm annoyed when they shut down the websites that are streaming the football games.

So just wondering, are shows easily streamable in Korea?

I pretty much exclusively watch tv through websites like sidereel and tvduck (which link to videoeb, putlocker, etc) and it only just occurred to me that i might have issues with this once I move over.

You won't have any problems streaming in Korea, all the sites you listed and more work just fine here.

TV streaming is not illegal, per se. Just as torrent downloading is not illegal, either.

It's all about copyrights and ownership. If the owner allows it, then it's not illegal.

It's illegal just in case the production company wants to sell the show to a Korean network at some point. Rolling Eyes
