I didn't even know what a chocolate mud cake was until I just Googled it but, it's one of my friends' favorite cake and I live in a really, really small town here so I don't think I can find it here. Of course I have no oven. I could try asking the bakery to make one but I don't know if they're going to accept a special order. Could anyone please recommend a bakery in Seoul or some other way I could get this cake (could I ask my bakery, do you think)? Maybe they don't sell them here, I have no clue. I would really appreciate any advice on this, it's his birthday. |

Is that the same thing as a chocolate lava cake? Because you can make a small one with a mug and a microwave. I know it's simple, but it does the trick.
In response to your other question, sometimes you can ask bakeries to make one for you. Most of them are pretty good about doing special orders. It might be a tad expensive, but it's worth it. |

Ahhh! After seeing the picture, I think you can get a cake like that at most bakeries in Korea, like Paris Baguette, etc. I definitely have eaten a cake like that with a ganache topping and filling. You should go to a bakery and check out the pre-made chocolate cakes in the fridge.
Maybe something like this (use IE to view):

You don't mean a Mississippi Mud Cake, do you? I have never seen them in Korea before, but I have made one for my husband's birthday (I think 2 years ago).
Anyway, just for kicks and giggles, I used this recipe and modified it a little: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Mississippi-Mud-Cake-2649
I left out the marshmallows (too sweet!) and waited until after pouring the ganache over the top at the end to add the pecans.
Anyhow, hope you find a cake that works for you! |
