I have a few days off next week before New Year's, and I'm hitting Busan (from Changwon). I've already googled and found a few places that seem OK for an inexpensive love motel (35K is my ceiling), but I was wondering if anyone here has recommendations? I'm new to Korea and haven't been to Busan yet, so any help is appreciated!

BTW, I'll be coming into Seobu bus terminal, and will probably stay in Nampodong. Thanks!

Any reason in particular why you want to stay in Nampodong? There's plenty to do there and it's a fun area but if you're planning on staying somewhere close to foreigner-centric nightlife then Gwangan, Kyungsung, or Haeundae are better options. Motels near the beach are cheaper this time of year and Gwangan/Kyungsung are under 30 minutes from Nampo by bus.

There are some nice decent yeakwans aroung the Chinatown area opposite Busan station for 25k - 30k.

One I stayed in the room had double bed, kitchenette and abthroom with tub for 25k.

It's actually a good location as it's away from the noisey areas but not too far from the party areas and beaches that it's a major hassle to get there.

Thanks for the tips - I appreciate it. No big reason on location, but I figured Nampodong would be close to the fish market and some other spots, and from what I've read it's a good spot to stay. Not too interested in the nightlife, as I'm really only going to check out the city for a couple of days on a touristy vibe (nightlife can wait for the next trip).

Is it pretty easy to just walk around for an hour or so when I arrive and find somewhere to stay? I'm going to ask a few people at my school also, but I was curious as to what ideas I could get on the forum.

If you know of any motels by name or specific location, you can PM me, too. Thanks!

Exit Busan station, look left. The 10-ish story hotel right there never cost me more than 40,000/night (was a few years ago though)

i agree with the above posters. Nampodong is worth checking out, but no real reason to base yourself there. there's the fish market, Busan Tower, Piff Square, and, um... really Nampodong is a good place to kill a few hours, not spend a weekend. the beaches have a lot more going on, nightlife-wise and tourism-wise. Haeundae has the best aquarium in Korea, tons of restaurant options, great people-watching in any season, a casino, and is very close to the Busan Art Museum and Centum City, home of the world's largest department store and a bunch of hot springs. there are tons of love hotels around, and getting one for 30k in December will be easy. Gwangalli is a nice place to stay too, you might even get a beach view for 30k this time of year. there's a little less going on in Gwangalli than Haeundae, but it's closer to central Busan so subway rides to go sightseeing will be shorter. Busan's other major tourism draw is the Beomosa Temple area, and that's a long subway ride from Haeundae or Nampodong since it's way up north.
