I have a contract ending mid March. I have a job offer starting March 1st. Both schools are GEPIK. I will be breaking my contract. Regardless of if i break it a day before or a month before, i'm still breaking my contract and therefore, will have to pay my own airfare home.
So, I want to break it at the end of January to give me a whole month home to make it worth the flight expense. My question is, with a release letter will i be able to transfer my visa at the end of January? I would like to transfer before I go but that would be more than the two weeks I was told to do it within of starting my new job.
My current visa is good through mid April. I want to secure everything with my new school and transfer my visa before I leave. Is that allowed? Can I transfer my visa a month ahead of time? |

With a LOR you can transfer any time within the last week of employment at the 1st employer and up to (depending on the Kimmi officer) 30-60 days ahead of the start of the new contract.
The other option with a LOR is to switch to a D10 (looking for work). This gives you 90 days to find a new job and take care of the paperwork to switch back to an E2 (without the need for new documentation other than what is commonly required for a transfer).
It may take a couple of weeks to get your new ARC when switching between the E2 and D10 (making travel difficult).
