haha. it has a Korean keyboard and you can choose any language. 1.3 is pretty low. I got it a few months ago, it's in excellent condition and i originally posted it for 2.1.
nice job with the bidding war! |

So, being a mac guy I have a bit of interest. However, this model is old, and in April they will introduce their new line of notebooks. When I look at the place where I would buy it (Canadian Apple Store) the price is a little over 2mil with current exchange rate. As a teacher, I get an education discount, so let's say that knocks out tax, and we have a 2mil notebook. You are selling it for too much. Just because you haven't used it, doesn't mean the value of the notebook hasn't dropped. Once the new ones are released in April or around then the price will drop even more.
(I peaked at appleinsider dot com and noticed you can buy that macbook pro for 1650 US, so again, your price is way too high)
The offer of 1.3 is pretty realistic, and I would consider making a similar offer. |

I'm not just selling it for that much because it's barely been used. I understand that new mac book pros are coming out soon. That's cool for whoever wants to drop a butt load of money on a mac (which I did when I first bought it.) I don't know why everybody in Korea keep comparing prices of apple products sold in Korea with U.S. or Canadian apple store prices. They are different depending on the country. I bought this in Korea. Apple products are a little more expensive in Korea. (current exchange rate)
USA price: 1,799.00 USD = 2,086,840.00 KRW
Korea price: 2,290,000.00 KRW = 1,974.14 USD
The difference between Korean and american prices (in won) is 203,160 or 175.14 (in dollars.)
I know it's not accurate in my case since my machine is older than the apple store's. Just pointing out that apple products are more in Korea, so compare it with the Korean apple store prices...not North American prices.
I just started at a price and working my way down which means I can negotiate. I just didn't agree with 1.3. Sure, it's not brand new, but it's not that old...that's like saying an Iphone 4 (not 4s) is an old phone. This is for anybody who wants to buy a used and powerful mac book pro in excellent condition for cheaper.
I tried to be as reasonable as I can so I compared it with other buy/sell sites in Korea who are selling mac book pros similar to mine to give me a good idea on what price I should sell. I'm not saying that I won't consider selling for under 1.8. Forgive me if I'm being ignorant. |

Fair enough. It is a very very fine piece of hardware. I almost bought one this past summer, but I figured having bought an imac a few months earlier the wife wouldn't let that type of thing go.
I wasn't aware others compared NA prices with Korea. The reason I do it with Mac stuff is I can easily get stuff from NA when I head back each summer, but I also have people going back and forth that I know all the time, and thus I thought it might put a better perspective on the price points. Also, the prices are usually pretty bang on when you compare exchange rates and taxes. For instance, I bought my iMac in China and I think the price difference was about $50 and if I consider the surcharge my credit card gives for outside currency purchases, it was probably more like $25 or so in price difference...pretty close, no?
You might want to try craig's list. Alternatively, if you know someone who speaks Korean, like a Korean friend, post it on a Korean sale site. You will sell it pretty fast compared to here. |
