I just found out I will have all of next week off of work. It's very last minute so I feel it is too late to try to plan a trip to Thailand or anything like that. So I think this could be a good opportunity to travel around Korea a bit. However none of my friends share a similar vacation time so I will be doing this solo.

I have been living in Daegu for about 4 months and haven't gone out of the city much except for a weekend trip to Seoul. Does anybody have any recommendations of places that are good to visit in the country? Or even some sort of foreign tourist group that would be available at such late notice?

I don't want to spend my vacation at home. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Gyeongju. Check out some Korean history. Gyeongju used to be the capital of Korea way back in the 700s or something like that. There's a whole bunch of historical sites left over from that time. It's close to Daegu, too.

Do you know how to ski or snowboard? You could head up to one of Gangwon-do's ski resorts, like Yongpyong, Phoenix Park, or High1. Go during the week when it's less crowded. If you can't find affordable accommodation on the resort, you can stay at a love motel in the nearest town (resorts often have free shuttle buses from these towns, well Yongpyong does anyway).

Busan and Jeju are nice, but in my opinion better during the warmer months.
