Does anyone have a link to the 2011 statistics showing the number of NETs in each city? |

It's going to be really hard to find an accurate number for this, but here's a place to start.
http://www.korea.kr/expdoc/viewDocument.req?id=29408
Those are the immigration statistics for 2010. (The 2011 report isn't available yet).
According to the government, there were 23,317 registered E-2 visa holders residing in Korea last year. However, getting the real number of foreign English teachers is going to be much more difficult because...
Some of the E-2 visa holders are here teaching other languages. The vast majority are teaching English, but this visa can be issued to teachers of other languages as well.
There are many people on F-2, F-4, and F-5 visas who are also teaching English. How many though? That's anyone's guess. Immigration can tell us how many of these visas were issued, but not what jobs they are doing.
There are also potentially a number of foreigners teaching here illegally with tourist visas, student visas, etc.
So who wants to take a stab at the total number?
You can also find the number of E-2 holders in each city (and even each gu) in the document in the link posted above, but you'll have to check for yourself. It's way too much to post here (748 page document!) |

Not sure if I should count the poster above me, if so, 9, if not 8. |

I've decided to just get the number of NETs in public schools. So, I can easily e-mail each city's office of education.
Thanks for the help! You've all been useful! |
