Just be told i'll be spending some time here as well.
i was here about six years ago and basically only saw the city and dove at Malapasqua island.. any recommendations again as to what to do or where to stay in the area would be appreciated..
Is Bohol a must-do?
Cheers. |

Cebu city, Cebu province, Cebu island?
If Cebu city, are you looking at the beaches (if so you aren't in Cebu city but probably over on Mactan (Lapu-lapu city).
Bohol is great if you have a few days to spend. Not a bad place to kick back for a few months either.
Is it a "must do" = no.
Hard to give any recommendations without a time frame (6 hours between flights, 1 day for shopping or 14 days for a vacation and a budget ($50/day, $100/day, I don't care about the cost).
Just scan back through the travel forum for LOADS of information on Cebu and Bohol as well as other islands in the Visayas region.
Come back with a question that isn't as open ended as, "how high is up?" and there are lots of great choices to pick from.
Moalboal is another place on the big island if you are into diving. There is no good diving around Cebu city/Mactan itself. There are lots of decent dives to be had around Bohol.

You can pass on Bohol. I was there earlier this year and hit Alona Beach but was like "meh." It has its good points but ain't Boracay, that's for sure.
Cebu is more a laid-back city and if you want good food and nightlife, Crossroads and IT Park are good for that. Mango Ave. has a lively scene at night and weekends, too, and has girlie bars if you're into that.
Per the Lonely Planet Guide to the Phils, Moalboal is for drinkers and divers (or both). It'll take you around three hours by bus to get there from Cebu City.
What I've heard good things about is Bantayan Island. You might want to check that out. |
