I am currently paying a 2-year contract with a Samsung Galaxy S. My Korean friend, who has the same phone and plan, told me that we could upgrade to the Galaxy 2 for free with no added charge. I'm wondering if this is in fact true, or if there is an added catch, such as extending the contract another year. When my contract is up in two years, I plan on switching plans and getting an iPhone, so I don't want to extend this contract past the two-year mark. |

Some dealers make special offers like that, not SK themselves. The way it often works is that they will agree to pay off the remaining cost of your original phone if you have a few months left on the contract provided that you sign on for an additional 2-year contract.
So it's "free" in the sense that you don't actually hand over any cash to the salesman, but you're still signing up for 2 additional years of service as well as the installment plan for the new phone. |
