My contract ends Feb. 29th.
My school's classes end Feb. 16th, and I have vacation days through the end of the contract.
Can I leave after the classes end or do I have to stay until after Feb. 29th? |

So, you are asking if you can leave the school for your vacation?
Sounds like a question for your principal. |

I'm not coming back next year. I'll be going home for good.
I could ask my primary CT, but she is new and doesn't particularly like the bother of having to find out stuff for me. She also doesn't particularly like it when I ask other, more experienced and knowledgable, people at the school about such things.
I figured asking other FTs who've been there done that would save me minor headaches.
That's plan A. |

You could be setting yourself up for problems if you leave early. They could technically claim that you did not complete your contract because you left 2 weeks early and not pay your severance or airfare. Search on Dave's sucks, but you could find at least one previous example of this happening posted here which I remember reading.
I had a previous employer jerk me around while I was sitting at the bank waiting for my final pay, on my final day, which was a Friday, with tickets to leave on Sunday. The only reason things worked out was because the guy working at the bank was willing to sit there for an extra 40 minutes after closing time while my former employer explained euphemistically that he was illegally withholding monies that has nothing to do with my job. My previous employer was not public school, and not a hagwon, though.
It's the reason we are sticking around for a few extra days and taking care of all the final details ourselves, and making sure we get paid, though (and this is for PS). If I was confident about this kind of thing, I would have done the same, as we have plenty of vacation days.
Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. |

Just ask your school. Give them a "good" reason for leaving early. There are quite a few cases within SMOE when teachers leave before their contracts end. It's all on your vice principal and principal. SMOE states that if your school releases you early, it's fine. |
