I finished my contract in early December and I was under the impression that my pension was going to be fully paid by my boss.
As I have just found out, the pension office told me he didn't pay for the last 3 months of my pension. I'm now back in the states, but will be returning to Korea in February with EPIK.
The pension office said I would get my pension by the 20th of January, but will they pay it if it hasn't been fully paid? What are my options here? |

They would take the full payment and give it to the pension office. However, only half of it would come from your salary. They cough up the other half. Make sure the numbers/amounts correspond. If not, I would do option N below, and then S if needed. They hate surprise visits, especially after they think you won't return.

Option:
H. Do nothing, leave it up to chance.
A. Contact the hagwon by email and by phone if they don't reply to email.
G. Pull some miraculous strings overseas and get them to legally pay up.
W. Since you are returning in February, you won't accomplish much now.
O. It takes a month for the pension office to do their thing. So, maybe you should wait.
N. Nag the hagwon (by phone and in person) when you come back in February.
S. If option N doesn't work, go to the pension office with the contract and pay your share.
Considering you are returning in about a month, you won't be able to do much if the hagwon is refusing to pay. To them right now, there is no guarantee you will return. Prove them wrong.

If they don't pay, they get fined. The fines rack up over a series of months. They eventually have to pay unless they go out of business and they know that.
It took my hagwon 6 months to get my pension to me (I was enrolled but they just hadn't paid it), but they eventually got it to me. If you are enrolled, I wouldn't worry about it. You'll probably get it eventually. I would still nag them, though. |

I sent an email to them yesterday. Hoping they respond. |

Correct. You could ask them to give you what they've already paid. They did that for me - I had pension from two different schools so they gave me the pension that was paid by my first school a month or two after I returned from Korea (it was a much bigger chunk of money), but I didn't receive the second chunk until a few weeks ago. |
