So I just spoke to two different people from immigration and found some surpising news.

The first guy said I can quit my job early and I don't necessarily need a letter of release to change jobs. I would just apply for the D10 visa (looking for employment), find a job, and then come back and switch to the E2 Visa. Also he said i would NOT have to resubmit documents at all. This is all possible without letter of release.

I called again just to get a different opinion, and the woman said the same thing, except she couldn't guarantee I'd get the D10, but I at least would be eligible to apply. She also said I would not have to resubmit documents.

I'm quite unhappy at my hagwon after almost 2 months. Does it seem worth a shot?

If you're unhappy then go for it. Carpe diem.

That is quite an interesting slant on this and it makes sense. If you switch to D10, then you are released, so yea you shouldn't need it. Is this D10 stuff just temporary, meaning they will phase it out after a year or so, or will they keep D10's as an available escape route for teachers? I can see how it could also be abused.

I wonder what ttompatz has to say regarding this.

Without the LOR or a valid complaint/claim filed at labor for labor law violations your chances are slim (about the same as a snowball in Hades).

If you are unregistered (no ARC) you have no chance.
