So I fell and injured my wrist. After 5 days, I still hurts (only mild pain), but it feels weird, and isn't very useful. I'm not opposed to seeing a doctor, but I don't have insurance or a lot of money. Anyone know how expensive a visit like that would be? |

A general visit at a large hospital could cost about 20,000 won out of pocket. However, it depends on whether you need to see a specialist, and what kind of treatment they prescribe. I have no idea how much X-rays are out-of-pocket. Any medications will also be more expensive than usual.
Sorry that wasn't too helpful! When I paid for out-of-pocket visits to the doctor for my son when we first arrived in Korea, everyone said it would be soooo expensive but it wasn't too terrible (then again, he had a bad cold, so it wasn't anything severe). I think we paid 20,000~26,000 for the visit and probably about 20,000 for medications. Since we're from the U.S. we thought the out-of-pocket cost was a bargain. |

Basic consult and x-ray will be about 30k won without insurance at the average general hospital/clinic. 10x that cost if you go to the "international" desk..
If you didn't break anything and it just needs to be wrapped then you will be wrapped and sent on your way.
If you actually did break something and it is 5-days old then you may now need more invasive treatment but you can talk about it with your doctor.

Went to a clinic today. Cost 40k for consult, xrays, and medication. No break. In and out in under 30 minutes. Amazing. |

That's really strange. I went to the university hospital in my city and they charge me 16,000 won a couple of times I went. That's with insurance! I didn't have a doctor when I first moved to this city a couple of years ago. Guess insurance coverage isn't much, only at local doctors clinics or something. Maybe if I had to have x-rays it would be more covered though. Never had to do that. |

Why don't you have insurance? I have insurance through my employment here, as required by law. Also, whenever I travel outside of Korea, I purchase traveler's insurance. |
