|
|
Hi,
Moving to Busan for 1st March.
Anyone know some pleasant areas to live?
I suppose my max budget will be 500,000 a month and 5 to 10 mill key money. Would it be realistic to get a one bedroomed place in a decent area for that (pref near the subway - have to get to Hadan for work probably.)
Is it generally easy or tricky to find decent accommodation there?
Apologies as this has probably been asked many times, but can't find anything on search. |

For 500 a month and 5 to 10 million key money you can get a nice one-room anywhere in Busan. You also might be able to find a much bigger but slightly older larger apartment for that.
What part of town are you thinking? |

I'm not sure maybe dalmaji hill jangsan or gwangalli or is that unrealistic? I just want a separate bedroom to my cooking area and somewhere quiet basically.
Are there any foreigner friendly estate agents/realtors?
Thanks for the help BTW I know this is a boring topic. |

If you work near Hadan station then you can certainly find decent accomodations near there at the price you mention. However, Gwanganlee is damn far by subway...
Check out this subway map for Busan:

Your commute from Gwananglee would invovle a line transfer and 28 subway stops!
Heck you would be better off living around Somyeon, Nampoodong....
Your commute would be manageable and those two areas are packed with shopping, restaurants, movie theatres, bars....
Gwangalee is a nice area but its pretty far from Hadan. Jangsan is even further.
I would opt for the shorter commute....
Good luck. |

Thanks for the advice Patrick.
So I'm probably going to have to find a place on line 1 between hadan and a place where there is stuff. I really want to live somewhere with some decent shops/restaurants/starbucks etc thats convenient to live in. I'd rather not live slap bang in seomyeon, so is there anywhere on line one closer to hadan that has some decent conveniences but is not crazy busy like seomyeon?

How long would you be looking at one way from jangsan or gwangalli? 30 min? I can probably live with 30 min, but not more, as that would start to drag. Edit: just found a source that said it was 1 hr 20 mins! definitely not doing that commute!
Is there anything of note in Hadan - foreign food shops, large supermarkets etc? What sort of place could I get there for 400-500,000?
If I can get a really nice place, I might sacrifice location and also yes the better commute (or no commute!) |
30 minutes for that commute is unrealistic. You are looking at around an hour.
Hadan is pretty dry as far as things to do but nearby Nampoodong or a bit further Somyeon are packed with things to do.
As for a nice place, isn't your employer providing accomodations or have you decided to take the housing allowance? That seems to be what you wish to do from your OP.
Bascially you can find decent places in your price range in Nampoodong. Those will be smaller places however. |

Yeah i have a 350,000 housing stipend and the rest comes out my salary.
Small is ok but i really need a seperate bedroom, hate cooking where i sleep. Really I suppose I can go near a subway a stop either side of nampo, dont mind doing one subway stop to get to somewhere with stuff in it, especially if i can get a better place. |

If you live around the Nampo stop you will have everything you need nearby. Same goes for Somyeon except perhaps for large grocery stores.
The commute to Hadan will be short and that is a blessing!
You can perhaps get a small place with a small enclosed bedroom in that price range in those areas.
I would steer clear of the area around Busan station as far as living there is concerned.... |
