|
|
My co teacher just told me that I will have to get insurance on my little 50cc scooter. Apparently she said she saw something on tv that there is a new law this year which requires even my smaller bike to be insured.
Can anyone confirm this? Is there really a change in insurance laws? Do I need insurance now for my little 50cc? |

You will need it to be registered too....so you are going to need a plate. Personally I find this law long over due. Oh and you will need a proper license to do this either motorbike or car license for the ones under 125cc |

You'll need a drivers license too. That should get rid of the high school kids riding. |

The point about mandatory insurance as well as license plate is true, although the new law in concern isn't an insurance law but amended Motor Vehicle Management Act.
License plate enforcement kicks in July 1, 2012, giving scooter drivers 6 months to comply.
Mandatory insurance is a bit tricky though, since there is only one insurance company that sells policy for scooters/motorcycles with <50cc emission - Hyundai HiCar. Moreover, insurance premium for this category is HIGHER than that of heavier bikes, say, Harley-Davidson. |
