|
|
I am finishing my contract on February, 29th at my current Public school.
My VISA does not finish until 01st April, as immigration had given me a 13-month visa.
My new Public school commences on 01st March.
---------------------------------------------------------------
In the past years, the process was to get a "release letter" from your current school BEFORE the last day (BUT with the last days date on it).
This was taken to immigration at least one-week before the last day and given to immigration to change the visa over to the new school.
This was usually done, because the last date of the contract was also usually the last date of the visa.
However, with immigration now giving everyone 13-month visas, do you still NEED to get a release letter and go to immigration to change the visa over a few days before the last date of your contract (to avoid a E-2 visa run)
or can you just walk into immigration a day (or two) AFTER your contract has finished (with a month still left on your visa) and apply for a change of visa for your new school (without having to do a visa-run)??

What is the new process? |
