Hello all...

I've been out of Korea for the past two years working in the States. I had an F2-1 issued to me for the final time in 2009.

Recently, though, I heard that immigration is also asking for criminal background checks and such things, as required with E2's. I'm not a teacher, nor looking to teach. I heard that these requirements could be of the MOE and not immigration.

I want to be prepared. It would take me several months to get a CBC here and I just want to be prepared. The embassy here knows absolutely nothing that is not E2 related, in terms of visa requirements.

Thanks in advance for any who provide feedback.

F2-1 is now the F6.

The process hasn't changed.

CBC and degree copy are for the MOE and not immigration for f-class teachers. They are NOT required if you are not working as a teacher.

Thanks a lot, ttompatz. I thought that was the case. Are you certain about the new visa classification having changed from F2-1 to F6? If you have personal experience with it, would love some more information.

Thanks again and look forward to some educated insight.

I can verify that the F2-1 has changed to the F6. Not firsthand experience, but very reliable secondhand experience.

My F2-1 doesn't expire until August, so then I'll have firsthand experience.

f2 is now f6? wow! my visa comes up in august, so i better figure out what's needed to extend my visa.

is it still 2 years of F2/F6 before you can apply for F5?
