I got my RCMP check on Dec 30th, after sending for it on Aug 26th and they spelt my last name wrong.

I am hurting very badly because I found a very good job to transfer over to (currently in Korea on an E-2) and I worry that immigration will not accept it.

My last name is long and uncommon so they may not even notice.

HELP please, I can't sleep at night.

btw rcmp does not answer their phone and is taking 3 weeks to give half answers to e-mails. I am terrified of loosing the job that I worked so hard for for March.

That sucks...

If you can't get another one in time, I would just submit it to immigration and hope for the best. Who knows if they will accept it or not, but what else can you do? You can't expect Korean immigration to make exceptions for RCMP's screw-up.

Gee, that sucks...but it's probably not the first time it's happened. I'm sure they've seen it before. My guess is that they won't notice the typo if you don't bring it up. Heck, I bet the people at Immigration will have a hard time spelling your name too.

PS. Is there any confidential information on the document, such as your date of birth and social insurance number? Make sure to bring your SIN card when you head out to immigration if that's on there.

Contact, by phone, the MP or Senator from where you used to live in Canada. Hopefully they are Conservatives.

Tell them your problem, and that the RCMP isn't picking up the phone. They could have a new one issued quickly.

Also send a written letter to Vic Towes, Public Safety Minister, and Attorney General Rob Nicholson. They will not be impressed with the RCMPs incompetence on this matter, and you may get a response back offering direct help.

If you just sit around doing nothing, it doesn't help the other people who could face the same problem. The RCMP is INCOMPETENT, staffed by career liberal bureaucrats, who would throw you or me under the bus if it served them. You need to inform the politicians who can light a fire under the RCMP to get good results for us.

For a second there I felt like starting a political debate, but talking to conservatives is like talking to brick walls. Waste of time.
