Hi,
Not sure if anyone can help. I recently transferred from one school to another with no problem: release letter done, visited immigration office in Seoul, new visa, new date on my ARC. 2 weeks into my new contract (and with a visa that doesn't expire for over another year), my Director has told me I need to get a new criminal background check done. I have only been back home in the UK for 5 weeks in the past 15 months. He's certain the Immigration Office have changed the rules since the start of 2012, but before I spend lots of time/money/energy getting the check done, I was wondering whether anyone else has had something similar required? Or is more up to date with new E2 visa rules? As always, everything online tells you something different....
Thank you so much! |

I'm sure your director has got it wrong as you already have your visa, so no need for a new crc.
My guess is that he has heard that the MOE now requires a copy of all our documents, a simply photocopy of our degrees and crc, and has misunderstood this as needing a new crc.
However I don't know too much about the new MOE requirement either and haven't heard anything official. |

Thank you! My Director said he has checked with the Immigration Office 3 times, but has only asked for a copy of my degree certificate (no need for it to be notarised/apostilled), whereas my background check appears to need to be a new one. I'm going to call the Immigration Office tomorrow... |
