I signed a GEPIK contract but I was just offered a better job at a private elementary school in Seoul and I'd rather take that. This school was my number one choice but the principal took a long time to get back to me and I signed another contract in the meantime. I talked to someone who worked at the school last year and they gave me a very good review. The recruiter and the other school have nothing of mine besides the signed contract. I don't even know if the school has the contract, but the recruiter definitely does. I haven't sent them any other documents.
If I want to take this other job will it have any other repercussions besides pissing off the school and the recruiter? I haven't made any moves yet and if I do I'm going to be very careful about how I go about it. |

You might get blacklisted with GEPIK. They can't do anything to you at immigration if they don't have your documents yet. If they already filed for your visa issuance # you will have some trouble. Likewise, they probably won't return any documents.
No goods or services have been exchanged so they can't sue you for anything.
Just tell them a family emergency came up and you won't be able to leave in time for the start date. |

If they have nothing other than the contract then they can do nothing to you and you are still free to take another job.
The only consequence will be the recruiter will pee and moan and make all sorts of idle threats since he won't be getting his commission.

And you might find yourself feeling bad that you are not a man/woman of your word. Then we could also have the butterfly effect and by taking the second job bad things may happen to you. I would suggest you do as I have done. The fist place I am made an offer, I go, and later offers I send an email saying that I have already accepted a position.
