|
|
So after having some issues that just made my work environment uncomfortable, I decided to leave my hagwon. My director promised a decent recommendation, but of course he hasn't been giving me one. When I confronted, he even had the nerve to say that he has no idea what I'm talking about.
Anyway, if I leave the country under the E2 visa I have (doesn't expire until June), do I have to wait until then to look for a new job or does my E2 (US) visa expire once I turn in my ARC?
Also, if I leave off my experience at this school and reapply, I'm assuming it's logged at immigration.. Could there be any problem if I leave it off, I get a new visa, and immi contacts my new school? Can a hagwon you left with proper notice put you on some type of blacklist?
Finally, if I decide to just stay in the states for a job, I'm obviously not using this place for a reference, but I'd like to put the experience down so the new job could know what I've been up to for the past 8 months. Is there some type of letter I can ask for from my current employer just stating that I've been working for an amount of time?
Thanks. |

What did you expect, you left the job unfinished. He might promise, but I would sure a heck not expect it. Promises are usually that. Unless you get them done and in your hand right away, expect any promises to be ignored or delayed.
You want that recommendation, then write it yourself. Try to keep it honest and have the boss sign it (if you can).

I think once you leave and hand in your card you are fine. You will have to apply for an all new E2 with requisite paperwork.
YET
I also want to say maybe no because your are from the US. The E2s with US can be tricky. Maybe TTompatz can help.

Immi will keep a record, but as them to telling any future employer, not worth their time and effort. Maybe it get passed in mentioning, but highly doubt they will be spilling secrets.

Legally, no. Reality, it can happen. Schools can make stuff up and get you in trouble with police or other government bodies. They can also bad mouth you, if they are contacted. Some schools have even made the effort to contact anybody they can to bad mouth you. So do you best to not leave any mess's behind. Also consider distance. A city change might be useful. A change of phone number might prove useful.
A side note be aware that some recruiters will try a what I call a but, well, but. "You are an okay teacher, but since your previous school said you are bad employee. (drawn in Korean breath) Wellllll we can work with you, but it will be with hard to place you. Then they proceed to offer crappy schools. The recruiter may have actually heard from your e-employee or they will just say it because you did not finish a contract, to get you to choose a bad place.
