I am soon heading to the Canadian consulate in Busan to get a new passport.
They claim 15 business days.....how long does it actually take???
Any personal experiences???
Thanks!!! |

Passport Canada says it is currently taking 20 days for offshore applications.
They tend to be reasonably accurate.
Historically, 15-21 days from application to pickup and you will be without your passport for that time.

I had it done in Seoul last year, and while I can't remember exactly how many days they said, I remember it being exactly the amount of time they said it would be (hope that made sense).
If they say 15 days, it will be 15 days. If they say 21, it will be 21. If they give a range, it will be somewhere within the range. They won't be late, but don't expect it earlier either. |

Depends. Do you have a guarantor or are you going the other route (extra contacts)?
I did the latter and they said it depended on how quickly they could get in touch with my contacts. They got in touch with them the day after I applied and it was ready 2 days later. I picked it up a week after applying for it.
That doesn't mean yours will go as smoothly though. I wouldn't plan anything ahead of the estimated time. |

Mine have always been pick-up.
I don't think they mail them out in foreign countries (but I could be wrong).

| I just received my new passport, which was processed through the Busan consulate, last week. I dropped it off just before Christmas, so total processing time was about 3 weeks. I'm not sure, but they may have had a few days off for Christmas, which may have slowed it up a bit. And yes, you can have it mailed to you. |

the one in Seoul mailed mine but they were really weird about payment. i couldn't pay them. i had to go to a post office and convert my won to canadian dollars and mail them a money order. they wouldn't accept cash in person. I had to leave the embassy and find a post office...
