Samsung's Series 7 Slate PC: hands-on

And you thought Samsung was finished showing off its Series 7 line of PCs. Joining the gaming rig and its smaller laptop brethren is a brand new Series 7 Slate running Windows 7. It sports a 400 nit, 1366 x 768 11.6-inch capacitive panel, Intel's 1.6GHz Core i5 2467M CPU with integrated graphics and 4GB of RAM. On the front there's a 2 megapixel camera and a light sensor, and around the back sits a 3 megapixel shooter. Connectivity comes courtesy of 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, plus there's a USB 2.0 port, micro HDMI, and a SIM slot for surfing waves of 3G (no word on which carrier will send those swells of data, though). Each slate also comes with an capacitive active digitizer pen, but will also have Swype on board plus a custom software layer to make Windows a bit more finger-friendly.

Why is this better than an Ultrabook which would be a few hundred cheaper and be more powerful?

Any Ultrabooks catch your eye??

I was condering the 7 Slate OR an Ultrabook. I looked at the Samsung Series 9 model but I read on a few forums that they had some problems with WIFI and a few other minor problems

The Asus Zenbook UX31

...and the Toshiba Satellite Z830 are both great options.

Unfortunately you're never going to get decent prices for these kind of premium products in Korea.

But then again, you won't get good prices for Samsung products either!! We get screwed on high-end imports and domestic!

I looked at that computer, but it's way too expensive. I'd sooner go with the ASUS Eee Transformer Prime. It's only $650 (in the US; we'll see how much it is here), ultra-thin, very powerful, and has a detachable screen, making it the best tablet/laptop hybrid I've seen.

The Slate isn't bad but the price is outrageous and that alone will make me never buy it.
