I just started teaching in Korea and I'm planning to be here for a year. I'm looking into getting a phone. If I get a smartphone, will I be able to use it in the US when I leave? I'm assuming I would have to get it unlocked. I'd really like to get the Galaxy S2 HD, but would an iPhone be easier to get working back in the US?

Also, what would be the best carrier to go with? I saw LGU+ with some pretty insane LTE speeds. But which carrier has the best coverage? (I'm living in Wonju.)

Thanks for your help!
