|

I plan on applying for EPIK fall 2012 semester. I have most of my documents (only waiting on my apostilled FBI and degree copies to be mailed back to me). But I am unclear about something:
Does EPIK (whether applying directly with them or through a recruiter) require that you sign your contract BEFORE they tell you what city or province you will be placed in?
I know they don't tell you what school specifically, but a recruiter recently told me that I WOULD be told what city/province I would be placed in before I had to actually sign a contract.
I want to teach in Gwangju Metro City. My credentials are impeccable (SIT TESOL Cert, English degree, 2 years classroom experience stateside--although as an assistant, not a full-fledged teacher). And I get the sense that if I apply April 1st, or whatever the exact day hiring period begins, I will likely get my 1st choice of Gwangju if hired since it's not Busan or one of the other super popular placements. But I want to know if this recruiter is giving me misinformation.
Thanks bunches for any help you can give me! |

You get to decline if you don't get your city of choice, but you won't get your docs back. |

Thanks for the info!
In general would you suggest working with a recruiter listed on the EPIK site? Or does it not matter much whether using one of the listed ones vs a secondary recruiter? |

I'd recommend using the recruiters listed on the EPIK site, since they're official partners - especially ATC and Korvia. But you can also apply to EPIK directly. Recruiters get paid by EPIK to recruit, so they actually discourage applying directly. But the EPIK coordinators are very helpful and I recommend going direct. Using a recruiter also delays responses and delivery of your documents by a couple of days as well. |
