I'm going to CES to represent a Korean VoIP company next week.

Could someone give me a little advice about having fun in Vegas?

I'm staying on Fremont street and spending most of my time around the convention centers.

That really depends on what kind of fun you are looking for. Sorry, I know that's eye-roll worthy, but LV is even more, um, distributed than most American cities in terms of entertainment.

First, the area with your hotel, Fremont, is basically in the 'old downtown' area. Where the courts and City Hall and such also are. There's a big roof over Fremont Street and sort of a festival hall atmosphere. The casinos are smaller but a lot of people actually prefer them. Maybe if you're a more low-key gambler?

The huge, famous mega-resorts are down to the south, about 10 minutes by cab, on the Strip. That's the Bellagio, the Cosmo, Trump, Wynn, Venetian, Luxor, TI, CityCenter, MGM Grand, Paris, Rio, and all the rest. Basically they break down into 3 groups:

1)'Family' theme places. Excalibur, New York, Circus Circus, Stratosphere, Luxor: these are kind of like theme parks with gambling. Pretty kid-friendly, but usually tacky. Lots of 'intense tourists' around. Some fun attractions [Strat has some great rides up top; NY NY's coaster is fun at night]

2)Super-luxury places. Cosmo, CityCenter, Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio: these places are all about just absolute dripping money. Super-expensive everything, high-end restaurants, invitation-only clubs, giant malls with Ferrari dealers, just battling with each to see who can spend the most. Great to wander around and just look at what people will [apparently] buy.

3)Serious gambling places: Caesar's, MGM Grand, Bally's, Harrah's, Mirage: these places are where the people who really want to focus on the 'key activity' go. They do have some other stuff--Caesar's is always good for quality shows, MGM Grand is a hub for boxing--but the main point is the gambling.

Depending on which convention center you're at, you have more options. Vegas has LOTS of convention centers. The Mack is the biggest one, to the east of the Strip and north of the airport.

My main advice is just to check out as many of the casinos as you can. If you'll have a car, go check the Hoover Dam, it's only a bit off to the east of town.

for me the best part is the pool scene. Amazing pools and bars all mixed into one. The club in the palms is a lot of fun and the Wynn buffet is great. Vegas doesn't have to be expensive at all if you play your cards right, I mean make well planned decisions.

The roller coasters on top of stratosphere aren't to be missed either.
