I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but . .

When I was sixteen, I was arrested for shoplifting. I was never booked, nor was I fingerprinted. They simply detained me until my parents arrived to pick me up. I went through a pre-trial diversion program, and completed it successfully, so I was never convicted.

Question is: how likely is it that this incident will appear on the FBI criminal record check? I've already sent for it, and I suppose I could wait, but I'm just really anxious about what's going to appear. Also . . if it DOES in fact appear, how likely is it that the Korean consulate will bar me from obtaining a visa? I know they tend to be strict, but I don't see why a minor, underage, non-convicted crime would affect my ability to teach there.

Sorry if this is the wrong place, this is my first time posting!

Thanks guys!

Derek

I dont know if your incident will appear on your record or not.

I can say that the powers that be don't really go into details of the criminal record check.

If there is "no record" then you're good. If there is a record, then you'll probably need to look at another country.

Not fingerprinted.
Not a federal crime.
You were a minor.

I'll bet your first month's paycheck it won't be on there.

If you went through a diversion program, it won't be on your record. The whole point of diversion is so that you don't have a record. Keep us updated though.. You never know with bureaucracy.

If you had a criminal record as a minor, you can call the county police you had a record in and seal your files. No one will be able to see your record before you were 18.
