ideas, info would be appreciated..
Thanks.

I extended at an academy in September for 6 months (finished 1 year).
At the very end of October I was told on a thursday that I would have no more work...ever.

We had agreed to finish in December. But he found someone a month earlier, so decided to basically terminate my employment.

I'm in the process of labor board stuff and soon court, for severance (owed to me since september) etc.

Well now I have a new job lined up in a public school.
My visa has still not been cancelled, and I can't get a hold of my previous boss either by mail, phone and even calling to his school. which seems to be dead all the time.. but with lights on....

So i need to cancel my visa. Or get a release letter, but since I can't find him and he is avoiding me, I doubt it's going to be possible.

I need to do it quickly, as I have to get the visa application process done asap.

Any ideas?

Can I simply leave Korea and come back the following day?
On a tourist visa with no questions asked?

Go to immigration.

Provided it has been less than 30 days since your last date of employment they will simply transfer your visa to the new employer or switch you to a D10 to bridge the gap between your current status and your new contract start.

IF it has been more than 30 days then to save a potential pile of grief leave Korea, hand in your ARC to cancel your current status, return as a tourist and begin the application process for a new visa.

Thanks for the reply.

It's been more than 30 since I was last working. My contract end is really last day in February.

If I take a flight out Friday and return to Korea on Saturday, will that work?

will I Stil be able to re-apply for a new visa before the previous one ended?

-----
Immigration have told me once they confirm, or if i can get a letter from the labor office that the school has closed - I can apply for a new visa, and do a visa run.

Yes, a day trip out and back will work. Be sure to hand in your ARC when you leave to cancel your current status so you will be able to begin a new visa application when you return.
