I would like some direct information about getting a visa and the requirements. Who can I talk to? |

Complete waste of time to contact any Immigration Office in Korea for that as it is not they who will be handling your initial visa. You must contact the South Korean consulate serving the area in which you reside. |

They won't be able to speak to you in English for the most part, and your consulate should provide you with that. That's what their for in the eyes of Korean Immigration. Often, on their websites they have the info. People on the job section of this site can tell you to some extent, but some of the consulates can ask for different things.
The consulate in Houston is simpler to deal with. |

thank you. i called the embassy earlier today and the woman i talked to said she doesn't handle that end of visa processing, and that i'd have to talk to the immigration office. i asked how, and she said i would have to go through my recruiter or job. so far, that hasn't worked out perfectly, so i was hoping to get direct information too. |

Why don't you tell us what the question is? |

You would think the OP would have the presence of mind to ask us.
Is he paranoid we'll give him the wrong answer? There are general rules when it comes to immigration. The embassies and consulates can answer certain questions about immigration. What he's saying is rather vague....
OP, ask and you may receive:) |

i already mentioned it in another thread. this thread was for finding out how to contact immigration.
i am having problems with my background check, as i went through a channeler instead of going through the FBI directly. i need to have it apostilled. the apostille office (local) recommended i get a notorized letter of authenticity (written and signed by MYSELF) and then attach it to the background check, and have that apostilled...
trying to find out if that would fly. if not, i can't go to SK as soon as i was hoping (march.) |

Good luck.... and order another FBI check while you are at it.
There are no shortcuts when dealing with the bureaucracy in another country.
Point in fact, it was people using shortcuts that caused the requirement for an original FBI check with apostille in the first place.

I'm not being pedantic, though. The vast majority of people taught to read and write English have been taught to read things and write them in a certain manner, that manner including majuscule letters. A continuous stream of minuscule letters is harder to read and comprehend than one written in the manner someone presumably educated at the university level would display. In other words: you're doing yourself a disservice with your cutesy phone texting style.
And, from the evidence thus far, you are not e e cummings. |
