Recommendations please. My iPhone using friends have some amazing apps that allow them to take some fantastic pics, but I really don't now where to start in terms of quality android apps.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Paper Camera is a pretty fun app. It changes photos to look like different types of drawings, such as cartoons or sketching, noir, pastel colours...

It's not anything good if you're looking for some kind of high quality photography studio type thing, but it is good for a laugh.

If you're looking for photo editing apps I've enjoyed picsay and photogrid. Color image isn't a bad one either depending on what you're wanting to do.

I'm using these here (mostly because I can't find ONE camera to rule them all):

Camera Zoom fx - some nice functions, burst mode, effects
Camera 360 - my long time favourite but sooo slow to start, save and shut down, also crashes frequently. Love the "Heavy HDR" setting.
LittlePhoto - Incredible range of special effects
Picsay Pro - My favourite for photo editing
Pixlr-o-matic - large range of presets (mostly lomo) and frames, probably the best of the free apps
Retro Camera+ - Cute, and does make nice pictures
Vignette - Possibly the most professional, if somewhat complex camera app
Pano - best panorama app I could find
Night Camera - Takes 4 shots and combines them for a relatively good looking low light shot
HDR Camera - kind of does the same in daylight
Pro HDR Camera - Is it HDR? Try. I keep wishing that it'd work for me.
