Did anybody else get their severance pay this month when their contract ends Feb. 29th?

I was expected SMOE to send it mid-March, not mid-January.

My contract ends at the start of March, but most of the time since the end of camp (Jan 13th) is saved up vacation days. We have 2 1/2 weeks of Graduation Week for half of Feb.

If this were a hakwon, I'd be worried they gave me severance early in order to avoid having to pay the last month's salary since I'll hardly be working.

I trust SMOE and my school much more than that. I think we've just had poor communication.

I did have my CT contact SMOE at the end of December about severance, because she is new to ESL and had the wrong idea about it: She said I should have gotten 1 month severance when I transferred out of my last school (within SMOE) and that I would only get 1 year severance when I finished my contract with our school.

That wasn't what I'd heard before, and SMOE explained to her that they give severance in a lump sum when you leave SMOE - not each year.

I also had her ask if I'd get severance on my last payday or later, because I wanted to plan my flight home. They told her I'd get it a couple of weeks after the end of my contract.

So, I don't know why I got it now...

It has been 1 week since the end of Winter Camp. 3 weeks since the end of December...

....but my contract ends Feb. 29th???

I'll find out Friday when I leave the first half of vacation for a meeting where they will discuss the end of the school year and our last 2 1/2 weeks of classes that begin a week from Monday....
