|
|
Just watched the nightly news and they had a clip that I only caught part of...
Apparently, a Canadian and his girlfriend were walking along the Han a few years back... she went in, and died. At the time, he claimed that she slipped, fell, and drowned.
A couple of years later, after having moved back to Canada, he's now returned to Korea and admitted that he killed her.
Well, that's what I could gather from the news.
If anyone else figured out more, feel free to add info. |

Here you go.

A Canadian has turned himself in to police, confessing to the murder of his Korean girlfriend three years ago, police said Tuesday. She was previously thought to have drowned by accident.
Police have sought an arrest warrant for the 38-year-old, who confessed to the crime because of feelings of guilt about her and her family.
According to Yongsan Police Station, the man came to Korea in 2001 to work as an English teacher. He met the then 21-year-old college student in January, 2009 and they started a relationship.
But he soon began having delusions that she would recruit other people to kill him, and out of fear, he decided to murder her. |

That is tragic.
But given the sheer number of western losers, douchebags and odd-balls that filled the Korean esl scene in 2001, and the propensity for koreans to naively misjudge western personalities...it was a perfect storm.
This is why upgrading E2 visa requirements was necessary. |

So what good did those upgraded requirements do in this case? |

None, because in 2001 (when this crime ocurred) the stringent E2 requirements had not yet been brought in.
In 2001 all you neded to work in Korea was a valid passport. Degrees were not checked, you could have gotten in with a fake cert.
You could have been an axe murderer, Korea would have welcomed you. In fact criminals were probably preferred because of their "charisma". |

Yeah but he first got in here in 2001. He dates from the bad old days.
In 2009 he could still have gotten away without an adequate criminal background check or properly verified degree cert. |

Repeat after me. "I was wrong and I admit it.", not so hard is it. Carry on.

If you can unequivocally state what his visa status was I might listen to you. You don't know though. You were misinformed about the date of the incident. You have no facts and presume to speak to cause. Silly. And your childish misquote only makes you appear more impotent.

*Sigh*...everyone knows... that an apostilled nationwide criminal background check and apostilled degree certificate were not absolutely required until 2012.
Until then you could have blagged your way through with a local state CBC or a fake degree with notary stamp.
Your uneccesary use of blue font engenders doubts as to your sanity. |
