|
|
I received, apparently with a number of other people, an email regarding the need to complete the online "course". In the email they say we are obligated to complete training and it refers to item #19 in our contracts which must ranks up there as one of the vaguest lines in contract history.
Unfortunately, the course does not advance or seem to record the lessons you have completed.
I've tried everything in the FAQ's ie. refreshing the browser to get the lessons to advance. It does but never seems to complete the section. I've closed down both browsers to see if it would re-set and add up what's been done. Nothing works.
I've emailed EPIK and had them remotely look at the browser and how it works (internet explorer). The say it should work but it doesn't.
What are we (I) supposed to do at this point and how much more time are people supposed to waste on this? |

I wonder what your deadline is for completion of the online course.
I arrived mid-2010, so my information is not current, but I recall a required online training. I was trying to be diligent and get it completed as soon as possible after I started teaching. But I kept hitting roadblocks just trying to log in to their system.
Like you, I sought answers at Dave's, and after some reading here, I gave the matter back-burner status, mostly.
Despite repeated email communication with EPIK, I didn't even get a correct log-in code until I attended the week-long EPIK training in Seoul more than 3 months into my contract, and only then were we given a deadline giving us another couple-or-three months.
You are probably being diligent and trying to give this appropriate attention. And that's good--it means you will probably be reliable for the school(s) you work in.
But, maybe, don't sweat this just yet. They'll get the kinks ironed out eventually. |

For the course itself, you can't just skip the lecture and answer the questions. There's a time quotient involved.
You should stay on a lesson for the entire time that it takes without advancing.
Stupid, yes, but it makes them think that we are paying attention.
I just minimized or turned down the volume and waited for the lecture to end to proceed.

RE:grant gerstners - The email says until 2/29/12
m_world - Thanks for the info. Let's say I'm not exactly engrossed in the lessons.
The problem is is I keep getting cycled back through something I've already seen so there's not way to know what parts are finished or to actually finish it....... |

Thanks plchron.
Having had non-internet explorer problems in the past I started off with an up to date version of IE. |

I had this same problem when I first started watching the videos. I had watched them but it was saying that I hadn't completed the lessons. What happened was, I was doing all of the lessons under the password that they give you to do the initial log-in. Once I went in, and changed my password, it finally started recording my progress. I hope this helps. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try this out this afternoon and report back.
RE: post on the login issue. I had initial difficulty with that. I think calling EPIK on it might be the only way to get it to work for some. I can't recall the issue at the moment but you're not the only person having difficulties. |

Thanks for your idea on changing the password. Unfortunately, I tried it and it seems to be just repeating the last lesson. Bizarre and continues to be a huge waster of time..... |

Once you've watched the lesson video and finished the "quiz" remember to hit THE END button underneath the area where the video plays. It closes the window and automatically refreshes the page that shows which lessons you have completed. |

Thanks for responding. I don't see anything resembling a "quiz". where is it? Maybe its' because I'm using a netbook? |

Each lesson has four parts... an intro, the lesson, a quiz and a wrap up. I'm not sure if those are the correct wordings.
Anyway, once you've watched the lesson video, click on either the "next arrow" on the bottom left of the screen or click on the tab labelled "quiz" either above the video or on the right hand side of the screen depending on which lesson it is.
Once you've done that for each lesson, you need to take two tests and, if successful, print off the certificate.
It is all very confusing but that's what worked for me. |
