I'm planning to go on vacation in Thailand, but it's possible that I'll have to do a formal Skype video interview while I'm there (i.e. I'll be in business attire). I'm guessing that free hotel wifi wouldn't work for videoconferencing, unless I'm staying at a really high-end hotel, and I won't be. Does anyone know if it's possible to rent out videoconferencing facilities for, say, an hour or two? I'd need someplace quiet with a fast connection.
Not sure if this belongs in the "tech" or "travel" section, but decided to ask it here. Apologies for the weird/random question--any help would be hugely appreciated, thanks! |

Truth be told, I have found that many of the "cheaper" hotels' wifi connections are better than those in the 5* places (like the Westin).
They typically have 2-6mbps download and 0.5-1.0mbps upload speeds.
You won't find any better anywhere else (The bulk of connections in Thailand are 6-12mbps DSL).
Just make sure you are close to the router antenna (better connection with less interference and lower latency) or plug into the wired network if your wifi connections isn't so great.

I've successfully SKYPED using the WIFI at cheap hotels for job interviews. Not a problem. |
