This sounds backwards as anything, but I've had it stated in Korean over the phone and in person at the immigration office.

They're telling me that I should wait until I've started working at my new job, and then put in the request for a visa transfer. I've been told that I have a window of 5-10 days in which to do this. I will start working at the new job the day after what is listed on my letter of release, so there will be no down time between the jobs.

Has anyone else been told this? It seems really odd, but maybe it has something to do with being on an E-7?

This is what I was told as well. I'm probably going to visit immigration again just to make sure.

Make sure your ARC doesn't expire before you complete the transfer.

As long as your ARC remains valid and your contract is complete or you have a LOR then YES (E1,2,7 (and a few others that aren't relevant here)).

Okay, cheers. I heard that the rule changed in Dec. 2010 but hadn't seen anything floating around on here about it.
