Just posted over in buy/sell/trade
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=164524&highlight=

no real ikea.. a little import.. ikea was in talks with like LG or something a couple years ago, but so far nothing has come of it.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/knightopia/3093835959/in/photostream/

There is this site which has a lot of import:
http://www.ikeakorea.or.kr/front/php/category.php?page=2&offset=32&&cate_no=178&mode=&sort_method=#normal_list

no flarke.. for $30 it was the best bookshelf around.

This is about the only thing I truly miss about north america. once a month or so going to the ikea, taking 3 hours to wander through the store after getting some breakfast. Ikea would really be huge here I think. They really need to find a way in.

I think its a web store only. The address on the page says its out in Paju.

Anyone out in Paju want to drop by?

That place is on the road in from Ilsan to Gumcheon station and despite there being signs on the windows, the store is basically empty and closed.

I went to the store in Hong Kong last year for the first time ever and was amazed at the design and price of all the various items. If you ever head that way, they will ship internationally and calculate the shipping costs for you at the store.

We can get most of the furniture already through various websites.. we need a store. There is a certain joy that comes from spending 3 hours or more wandering through an Ikea on a saturday morning..
Its hard to pop over to hong kong for a day.

I agree, Ikea would do quite well in Korea. At the very least Seoul could support an Ikea store.
