I have a Samsung plasma (it's full HD, though) but the new line of OLED TVs with smart functions has gotten me thinking of upgrading. I watch a lot of Internet content via Youtube through my LG Blu Ray player. My Samsung has smart functions but there is a bit of lag and such as it was the first generation to have them.

Seems the new Samsung models will come with a bunch of apps that will allow viewing of Discovery Channel and the like.

both lg and samsungs oled looks pretty damn awesome. But unless you have a lot of money to blow you might want to hold off early adopting an oled. They are rumored to cost around $8,000 usd. check out the new lg nano sets coming out. Its what im thinking if getting. They pretty much copied the samsung d8000 look with the metal base and completely bezeless design. Plus its only 4mm thick. Also if you enjoy 3d lg has the superior format imo.

TV with OLED screen is really awesome but should be very expensive these days.

I'm really into smart TV as I use my LG Blu Ray player to watch documentaries on YouTube. The problem is, the fast forward button only advances a program 30 seconds at a time and you cannot go back deep into a program if all of a sudden it stops (as it often does for any program exceeding half an hour).

The Samsung TVs have a keyboard on the remote, which is awesome for surfing. I like watching docs and being able to access doc websites is a thrilling prospect for me.

I have the same bluray player as you, and cannot see how you can stand to watch YT on it. I plugged a HTPC into my TV and it is soooo much better. Got it used at Yongsan for 200,000.

Samsung LEDs are cheap right now at E-Mart. 1.3 million for a 40", Smart TV, 3D, all the bells and whistles and wall-mounting is free.

The tech is getting cheaper all the time. A buyers' market.

Superbowl week makes me really miss US prices on televisions. Saw a deal on Amazon for a 60" Sharp LED TV for $999, the same unit costs $3700 here....

Well, the problems with watching YouTube on my Blu Ray player include cutting off at a certain point and static stuff. I am hoping the next firmware update corrects this (as well as installs LG Apps on it).
