... but I guess they can't send you messages. A co-worker that I blocked commented on my new profile pic.

Silly me assumed 'block' means they can't see you on Kakao Talk at all.

Just a heads-up.

Are you sure they are "blocked".

When you block them, they should see "unknown user" where your name used to be, without any profile picture. Maybe they saw it on someone else's phone.

Or, maybe they got a new phone number.

Yeah, the co-worker was on my blocked list and I also turned off both the "add automatically" and "recommendations" settings so I'm not added to the Kakao friends list for anyone who has my number.

I guess she could've looked it up on someone else's phone, though?

It is funny how the "blocking" in KT works.

A friend of mine let her sister use KT on her iPad. They were having a serious family fight and sister decided to block nearly half of her friends on KT on her iPad, including me.

The result was as described by the OP: I still had her in my friend list and the chat records were all still there. I could still send a message to her, but she would not receive it. I could still see her profile and her picture, status etc. were all updated whenever she made a change.

On her end however, I was completely gone. Couldn't find me or text me or re-add me because I was in the blocked list. Eventually we ran into each other and I solved the problem on my third guess. There were a dozen other people there who should not have been blocked.

Somehow this seems to be the exact reverse of how blocking should work. The effect is that all your blocked friends will now think that you ignore them. It's like a kid hiding under the blanket to make the monsters go away.

Meaning, after you block your ex girlfriend you will NOT receive this important message: "I still have your door code a$$hole, today I will come and set your apartment on fire!". Not helpful.
