I am looking to depart in July for South Korea. I am curious as to the current knife carrying laws in South Korea. I am planning on taking a Benchmade 2550 Mini Reflect Auto pocket knife.
These are its stats:Overall Length: 7.32"
Blade Length: 3.16"
So, yea or nay on the carry? Either way, what is the current law? (I've researched it but came up with varying explanations and laws) |

don't bring it. anything over 6 cm is illegal for carry. the police started enforcing the law pretty strictly about 2 years ago (do some searches in the joongang ilbo if you want to see the articles). |

Any reason for carrying a knife? How often do you stab people? |

Quick rule of thumb: No matter the size of the thing or the use you've put it to back in your home country, do not bring any kind of weapon with you overseas. Yes, you may have had no problem traveling with it to a different country before. The thing is that you've never been to Korea with a weapon. If you feel the need to have something like a pocket knife, get a pocket knife after you get to Korea. The best thing, though, as a foreigner in this society is to not have a weapon with you.
Leave the thing at home. |
