|
|
1. I'll need to get a medical assessment. I'm wondering, then: where in the Yeoksam area is the medical assessment service provided? I've looked into Korea Medical Institute in Seolleung (upon the suggestion found in another thread). I'm just looking for other options. Does Cha Hospital provide this service?
2. Some background:
I have been working for my current employer since July 2010. Then, yesterday, my boss notified me that I must get a medical check and a criminal background check. I have had it done before -- my first year, when I worked through EPIK -- and I have been on an F-series visa since. Getting the checks isn't a problem. My boss and I were both caught off-guard.
Anyway: is this normal, to be asked for these preliminary documents after the halfway point of one's second contract?
Thanks, folks. |

yes, medical is normal. Ring up hospitals and ask whether they can do medical checks for immigration purposes. Fee comes out of your pocket.
CBC: assuming you've not left Korea since your arrival, you can get it via the local police. |

Thanks.
I haven't left since my arrival. That's a relief, that I can get it done here. Are there any documents I should bring? Specifically, how does the procedure go?
As for the normalcy of the situation -- I meant, is it normal to be asked for this at a time when my second contract is halfway complete? |

Actually, it is to meet the new MOE requirements (coming into force in Feb).
You can get and use copies of them from immigration (300 won per copy for your CBC and authenticated degree). Not sure about getting your old medical copy... the MOE wasn't clear if they would take them or wanted new ones.

I'm pretty sure the Seoul National University clinic in the Gangnam Financial Center building (connected to Yeoksam station) does it. |

Thanks for the responses, everyone.
Ttompatz: to get those copies, do I contact the immigration office at which I originally went through (Incheon), or can any branch accommodate me? I ask because the acquisition of my F-series visa was branch-specific. |

Old medicals won't work. I had an extra original copy from my most recent visa medical earlier in 2011, and the MOE wouldn't accept it. I was really angry, because I had to do yet another x-ray. I'll need another for my next visa, as well. Fun fun fun. |

I went today to get the medical check done. However, it was to no avail. I was asked, "What kind of medical check?" I was ignorant on the matter; my employer simply handed me a sheet of paper that stated "Self Medical Check-List issued and certified by the hospital that examines the civil servants" (sic). No one at the hospital was sure what this exactly meant. In effect, they told me to come back when I have a clearer picture.
I tried to contact my employer, but I couldn't get through.
Does anyone know what kind of medical check I'm supposed to get? If it's of any concern: I work at a small-time hogwan. |

The branch that has your file (the one you are currently registered at).
