Have looked on meetup.com but there's only a 'practice English party' and a book club which starts and finishes while I'm still at work.

Found nada on facebook either.

Hiking groups, film groups, pool leagues...

I need something to get into other than booze and the racetrack.

Anyone know of any sports / hiking / pool / activities / anything groups in Busan?

Cheers. TFW.

When i was there we belonged to a hiking group based in Busan but they did not advertise, it was just people telling others about it.

There was a group called Busan Hiking Club but I think they shut down.

Alternatively, if you are sane and open to meeting people you can go hiking on your own and you will invariably meet other hikers that will want to hike in a group. These can be foreigners or Koreans.

Geumjong mountain is one of the better hiking trails in Busan for example.

Bomosa also has some good hiking.

There are also a couple of running groups in the Haeundae area.

However, most of these groups are Korean (meaning run by Koreans).

As for pool, not a player so I have no idea.

You could check out the YMCA in busanjin (if its still open) they had lots of clubs to join...again, clubs run by Koreans but mixed.

did you try visiting pusanweb?

They used to have tons of great information on Busan actitivies.

The leader of the group, Charles, runs hiking/sightseeing/cultural trips almost every weekend.

Will check out busanhaps.com and the facebook group. Cheers.

Hiking and especially running are kinda out for me as I have weak menisci, but I could do a light hike no problemo.

Well joined the facebook group. As for busanhaps, only found a sailing club that is a tad too expensive for my tastes and a bowling club that meet when I'm at work.

Sigh...

People are going to attack me for saying this, but one of the reasons I left Busan was the complete lack of non-club, non-binge drinking activities available in the city. You might head over to Kyungsung and check out the new bookstore there (which of course opened a few months after I left); I thought the enormous new movie theater in Centum City looked pretty worthwhile as well. One of my friends puts on a Shakespeare play once or twice a year with as many actors as she can get her hands on, but I'm not sure what her plans are for the next show.

No attack but seriously there are TONS of non-drinking activities in Busan. You just need to look for them....
