As I was walking to the subway station yesterday in Yeonsinnae (NW Seoul) I was stopped by two gentlemen from The Netherlands complete with a camera crew and they were trying in vain to stop Koreans to help them before I happened upon them. They said they were in a race (similar to the amazing race) and they needed to hitchike to Jeonju. I first thought that I misheard them until they showed me the paper that said Jeonju Baeksa in English.. I was speechless for a moment and showed them on a map they had of where Jeonju was and where Seoul was (the map of Seoul they had didn't even have Yeonsinnae on it) and told them the direction to head south towards the river which is the best I could do in any circumstance.. That takes the cake for the strangest things I have witnessed/experienced.. (they were allowed to hitchike but, I'm not sure how Koreans take to hitchhiking) |
