I have just accepted a teaching job at Sungra Elementary School in Ilsan. I originally was aiming for Seoul, but the job market is few and far in between. Thoughts, opinions?

I can't say anything about the school, but I am a little bit familar with the area.
Here's what I can tell you (provided I have the right school 성라초등학교)
First you're technically not in Ilsan, you in Deokyang which is an older/grittier part of Goyang city. That being said it's still a nice enough place. Your school is fairly close to Wondang station which is on line 3 and can get you to/from Seoul also well as Ilsan (the nicer area of Goyang) though I'd recommend figuring out the express bus routes as quickly a possible because line 3 is slow. Your school is also close to the SPART complex which is a Sports and Arts centre, hence the name. I believe you're also not far from the new Goyang immigration office but that's probably not very important since you should only need to go there once per contract.
A friend of mine worked at a school in the area, she seemed to be happy for the most part, but found the commute into Seoul tedious, as did I when I worked in Goyang.
